Antique Chinese Bronze Fengshui Foo Dog 31 in. Sculptures

$5,445.00

Chinese guardian lions, or Foo Dogs, are ancient guardians known in Chinese lore for their ability to protect the palaces and temples for which they stand guard. When placed properly using the practice of Feng Shui, they can provide balance, good fortune, and harmony to your home or business.

These Foo Dog bronze sculptures are cast in bronze. This set includes a Male with a xi qi ball under its paw, representing the material elements, and a female with a cub under her paw, representing the element of spirit. Original unrestored condition with beautiful verdigris patina. Gilt detail has weathered with time but is still boldly visible in many places. Unknown age, estimated late 19th-20th century based on casting and patina possibly earlier. Each measures: 31″ x 22 x 13.
