Maxine Yalovitz Blankenship is an expressionist painter based out of Brookline, MA, originally from the small southern town of Rome GA. She has a long and distinguished resume of awards and exhibitions spanning more than half a century. This includes a painting fellowship from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation and a 1965 solo show at the Columbus Museum of Arts and Crafts in Columbus, GA in which the subject of this appraisal The Girl in the Green Hat was featured.
