Signature/markings: Signed “Yalovitz” lower right.

Frame: Painted thin wooden frame

Condition: Good condition with no visible damage or defects.

Exhibition History: Solo Exhibition, Columbus Museum of Arts and Crafts, Columbus, GA, 1965.   

Maxine Yalovitz Blankenship is an expressionist painter based out of Brookline, MA, originally from the small southern town of Rome GA.  She has a long and distinguished resume of awards and exhibitions spanning more than half a century. This includes a painting fellowship from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation and a 1965 solo show at the Columbus Museum of Arts and Crafts in Columbus, GA in which the subject of this appraisal The Girl in the Green Hat was featured. Maxine is still working today and her work has a solid following in her native Georgia and is held in many museum and corporate collections.
